Places in Between
"Places in Between" (2025 - ongoing) confronts the stark reality of statelessness through the intimate portrait of a 60-year-old Vietnamese woman living on Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia - the largest and most important natural freshwater in Southeast Asia - a lasting connection between the histories of Vietnam and Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge. Her decade-long struggle for citizenship, amidst the historical resonance of the Khmer Rouge, becomes a powerful meditation on home, identity, and the enduring human spirit. This project, captured in photography and videography, seeks to amplify her voice and illuminate the liminal spaces where belonging is denied.
The project was produced during the 20th Angkor Photo Workshops under the guidance of Sean Lee, Katrin Koenning, Veejay Villafranca, Uma Bista, Rita Khin, and Shwe Wutt Hmon. ❤️
The story is told with open hearts.
